Grown in the Pacific Northwest, Premium Green Douglas-fir is a product that’s ideal for structural framing in residential applications. Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF) MSR Lumber Produced in our SPF mills located in Alberta and southern British Columbia, we offer a broad range of Machine Stress Rated (MSR) products. There are two types of Douglas Fir in British Columbia, Interior and Coastal. Douglas Fir is highly sought-after in the lumber industry because of it’s superior strength-to-weight ratio, durability, versatility and aesthetic appeal. Coastal Douglas Fir is often larger in size, resulting in a coarse grain and large knots.
Dry Lumber. We carry kiln dried (KD) lumber in an assortment of softwood and hardwood species. From clear dry Redwood, Douglas Fir and Pine, to Poplar and Red Oak in common sizes and higher lumber grades. Kiln dried lumber is less susceptible to shrinking and is less likely to warp or check because it contains less moisture content. Douglas Fir grows in the western provinces of Canada, West Coast states of the United States, as far south as western parts of Texas and Mexico. It prefers to grow in moist well drained soils and can be found growing in both pure stands and interposers in softwood forests. Douglas Fir can also be found growing on the rocky slopes of mountains.
