This second volume of the Calendar of the Fine Rolls of the Reign of Henry III publishes in English translation the rolls for the regnal years from 9 to 18 Henry III, and thus covers the period from 28 October to 27 October Like the first volume, which covers the first eight years of the reign.
The reign of Henry III  is a particularly rich period for surviving documents; there are some 56 rolls preserved in the National Archives, one for each regnal year.
However, despite the light they shed on politics, government, and society, they have never previously been properly edited or published, and these fully-indexed volumes - covering the period up to - will therefore be widely welcomed.
